Men's Skin

I am looking older than I actually am. What can I do about it?

Well men on the whole are notoriously lazy when it comes to skin care and they need to keep it simple. One of the key things for men is a need to shave mostly every day and this is where a lot of trouble starts with the cream, gel or shaving soap they use. A lot of these products can dry your skin out too much and leave it irritable and flaky which in turn can lead to infection and blemishes or a rash.

If you look at your shaving product the pH level should be quoted and look for a level on or close to 5.5pH which is a level that is very slightly acid but is needed to protect the skin from bacterial infection.

Sun protection is a must and a lot of men, especially those doing outdoor activities are unaware of the significant damage being done everyday to their skin which leads to premature ageing and worst of all skin cancer. Many men we put in our skin scanner have sun damage prevalent on the right side of their faces, simply due to lack of sun protection and having their car windows down when driving.

A good basic regime for men is to

  • Check their cleansing products/soap for its pH level and correct if necessary.
  • Wear an SPF (ideally SPF30) every day and those we provide are not oily or sticky.
  • Use a moisturiser regularly, contain an SPF making skin care easier.
