How would we describe Normal Skin and the Treatments RecommendedIf you have “Normal Skin” then this is actually quite unusual! Most of us have some sort of skin condition or another, but if your skin is well balanced, has a healthy colour, good texture and gives you no problems, then you are very lucky. Quite often we relate/classify the skin in its various conditions by the Ph Level it has i.e. where it is in the Alkaline to Acid range. The Ph level of Normal Skin has a range of 4 to 6.5, which is slightly acidic. This acidic environment for the skin is referred to as the skin's 'acid mantle'. One of the major functions of the acid mantle is to protect the skin and body from the absorption of bacteria. As bacteria cannot survive in an acidic environment, maintaining the correct level of acidity is vital.
Typical questions we get asked about Normal Skin and some of our recommendations We always get asked what skin care products should be used for the variety of skin types and of course your skin will never remain exactly the same. This can vary due to your Age, the environment you are in, the seasons of course and other factors linked to such things as diet etc. Treatments RecommendedThe vast majority of the facial treatments will accommodate this skin type with a preference being given to any personal skin issue you may have for us to focus on. Our Consultation Facial tends to be the first port of call with new clients as we can use a variety of products to give the skin a boost and see yourself in our skin scanner. What soap do you use ?One of the major culprits that radically alter the pH of the skin is the soap you use. When we are doing a consultation facial as an example, an initial key question for us to ask is “What do you use to cleanse your skin?” For more on this see our article on a "Well Balanced Skin"
So, you need to get the right balance of cosmetics and beauty products for yourself and then use them, to effectively maintain your skin in a healthy condition and keeps it younger looking. Sun Protection is always vitally important all year round and we always recommend a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30.
You can decide which type of skincare product you prefer and “Medium” weight moisturisers with water soluble cleansers and exfoliants are usually a good choice. We also offer a Free Skin Analysis in our Skin Scanner which takes about 15 minutes where we can explain identify any skin issues and provide some initial guidance. There is no obligation afterwards as we have a genuine passion for skin care and want potential clients to understand their skin better. |

Some of the soaps presented to us have an equivalent alkaline level of AJAX, so would you put this on your skin? It is vitally important to check to make right at the start for what you are using on your skin.
